The Route
The Boathouse Soon after leaving Bradford on Avon Marina, you’ll pass by the canalside Boathouse pub.
Bliss & Ladydown Aqueducts A mile later you’ll cross Bliss and Ladydown aqueducts. Bliss Aqueduct carries the canal over the River Bliss and Ladydown Aqueduct carries the canal over a railway line.
The King’s Arms Half a mile later you’ll pass Hilperton Marina on your left and then the King’s Arms pub on your right.
Semington Swing Bridge Just under two miles later you’ll encounter Semington Swing Bridge and Semington Aqueduct.
Semington Locks The journey continues east through the two locks at Semington.
Newton & Seend swing bridges Soon after the locks you’ll reach Newton Swing Bridge and less than half a mile later, Seend Park Swing Bridge.
Seend Locks There are five locks at Seend. You’ll find the Barge Inn just after the second lock and you can moor up opposite.
Foxhanger Wharf There’s another Swing Bridge just after the locks at Seend and 1.5 miles later you’ll reach Foxhanger Wharf, where you can turn your boat around and moor up for the night.
Caen Hill Flight From Foxhanger Wharf, you can walk up to the Caen Hill flight of 29 locks at Devizes, one of the ‘Seven Wonders of the Waterways’.
Devizes The historic market town of Devizes is at the top of the Caen Hill flight, offering a choice of restaurants and pubs including The Bear Hotel and The Peppermill.
